Rewriting the Rules: Opportunities for Environmental Health & Justice in Disruptive Times
Policymakers and civil society are upending long-established norms. While many developments seriously threaten environmental health and justice interests, these disruptive times also create opportunities to think and work differently and to secure more ambitious, transformational change.
The Health and Environmental Funders Network (HEFN) invites grantmakers interested in public health, equity, and environmental protection to its 2017 Annual Meeting, for an exploration of bold ideas, urgent actions, and creative change-making in these unusual times.
Join us in Detroit, Michigan on November 15-16 to:
- Learn about place-based, solutions-focused work gaining ground for environmental health and justice.
- Explore connections: between local solutions and national power, grassroots and national organizing, defense and offense, issue work and civic engagement.
- Network with other funders and donors interested in health, the environment, and equity. • Hear from Detroit-area speakers about local issues and efforts.
- Build skills in integrating racial and gender equity into grantmaking.
- Strategize as grantmakers about how to make the most of these disruptive times.
The HEFN annual meeting will begin with two site visits on the morning of Wednesday, November 15, then open with a lunch program on the 15th and conclude at 5 pm on Thursday, November 16.
Come early for a November 14 day-long funder meeting on climate, health, and equity, co-sponsored by the Climate and Energy Funders Group of the Consultative Group on Biological Diversity, the Environmental Grantmakers Association, the Funders Network on Smart Growth and Livable Communities, Grantmakers in Health, and the Health and Environmental Funders Network (HEFN).
