The Health and Environmental Funders Network (HEFN) seeks a full-time Development & Operations Manager for its Rockville, MD office. The Health and Environmental Funders Network (HEFN) is a network of grantmakers investing to promote healthy people, communities, and environments; its mission is to mobilize philanthropy to advance environmental health and environmental justice solutions.

The Development & Operations Manager will manage the network's fundraising, finances, and operations, working closely with the Executive Director. 

Responsibilities: 

 

Development

  • Track and manage HEFN's overall fundraising.
  • Write grant proposals and reports, in conjunction with staff or consultants, as required.
  • Track work on membership dues invoicing and acknowledgements.
  • Develop, with Executive Director, ambitious and effective fundraising plans.

Operations

  • Staff liaison to fiscal sponsor.
  • Oversee and staff lead on operational needs, including: office space; communications needs; computer, website, and other technology needs; liaising with consultants as needed.
  • Review organizational contracts.
  • Other administrative responsibilities, as needed.

Financial Management

  • Oversee the financial operations of HEFN, a fiscally sponsored organization.
  • Develop organizational budgets and revenue projections.
  • Monitor fundraising and spending; provide oversight.
  • Develop financial reports for Steering Committee updates, grant reporting, and other planning needs.
  • Other financial administration as needed.
Qualifications: 

 

Experience

  • Excellent professional writing skills, especially for proposals, reporting, financial memos.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Extensive computer skills (expertise with Microsoft Office, Salesforce);
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • A Bachelor's degree (a master's degree a plus); and
  • At least five to seven years of relevant professional experience, including in fundraising, financial or operational management.
  • Experience with nonprofits or foundations.
