On February 27, Representative Shimkus (R-Illinois) introduced draft  legislation to update the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), the 1976 law that regulates chemicals in commerce.  A hearing was held earlier this month, and advocates testified, expressing numerous concerns about the legislation, among them that the legislation would not provide the public health and environmental protections that are needed.

 
On this call, Andy Igrejas, Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families Campaign, will talk about the contents of the Shimkus draft and its potential impacts on chemicals regulation in the United States, the politics surrounding this draft legislation, and how advocates are responding.
