About Giving InSight

A blog for and about funders focused on health and the environment

Giving InSight is the official blog of the Health and Environmental Funder’s Network (HEFN).  As the title’s play on words suggests, we use this blog to share insights and information about philanthropic giving to protect health and the environment.  Each week, HEFN staff or invited guest bloggers share their unique perspectives on trends, strategies and issues in environmental health and justice philanthropy.  The varied topics addressed reflect the great diversity of field efforts and funder interests. Our hope is that you (the reader) not only read posts but also contribute to the conversation as we go.

Speaking of conversation, are you on Twitter and Facebook?  Meet us there for more information and connections with HEFN and other interested folks. We’re on Twitter here and on Facebook here.

About HEFN

HEFN is a network of grantmakers who invest at the nexus of health and the environment. Our mission is to maximize the impact of philanthropy on environmental health and environmental justice. Since HEFN’s founding in 1999, we have been building a philanthropic community explicitly focused on environmental health issues. That community, in turn, is supporting advocates, researchers, and others in deepening understanding of environmental threats to public health, and in launching active movements toward change. In essence, we are “home” for environmental health and environmental justice grantmakers.
