Connect and Communicate Through HEFN Email Groups

HEFN hosts several email groups to share information with funders and to enable our funder partners to communicate with one another. To review options or sign up for a HEFN email group, email gbrown@hefn.org.

HEFN’s current “member-only” email groups include:

• Members (hefn@lists.hefn.org):  for HEFN’s member foundations, donors, and advisers; and 
• Catalysts (catalysts@lists.hefn.org): for members addressing toxic threats to health.

 HEFN also hosts five topical email groups that are open to members, other funders, and staff of relevant funder groups, to accelerate philanthropy's response to these issues:  

• Past Petro (pastpetro@lists.hefn.org): for funders supporting communities dealing with impacts of oil and gas shale development and the petrochemical economy;  
• Climate (climate@lists.hefn.org): for funders prioritizing health and equity in climate change-related work;  
• Water (water@lists.hefn.org): for funders interested in safe drinking water-related grantmaking;
• Lead (lead@lists.hefn.org): for funders focused on reducing and eliminating lead exposures;
• Participatory Grantmaking (participatorygrantmaking@lists.hefn.org): for funders interested in participatory approaches to grantmaking.

Use HEFN's email groups to share information, find partners, and ask questions about grantmaking. People share things like: upcoming meeting/webinar announcements, new resources, job opportunities, relevant news articles, foundation announcements, and questions.

To unsubscribe from a HEFN group, click the "Unsubscribe" link at the end of all group emails.

HEFN Email Group Rules:

• Contents and opinions expressed on this listserv are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the positions of the Health and Environmental Funders Network.
• Messages posted to these lists should not be shared externally without the permission of the original sender(s).
• Some types of postings are prohibited. It is not appropriate to post messages that include advertising of fee-based services or products, chain letters and petitions, and individuals seeking employment. Libelous or profane postings are also inappropriate.

HEFN Email Group Etiquette:

• Administrative messages (such as requests to be removed from a group, or questions/concerns regarding any of the email groups) should be sent to hefn@hefn.org 
• In general, HEFN encourages online conversation in alignment with our values:
  • Be respectful of others - assume good intentions, and acknowledge impact.
• Use discernment about how often you post. The frequency of your postings may have the unintentional consequence of discouraging broader participation by other members.
• Check whether your email requires a reply to the sender only, or to the entire list. Avoid “replying all” unless your reply is meant for the entire group
• Avoid sending large attachments to the list. The listserv is configured to reject attachments larger than 26214400 bytes.
• Identify yourself at the bottom of the message with your name, organization, phone number and email address. This information will help other subscribers respond efficiently to your message.
