The Risks of Ammonia as a Marine Fuel
In an attempt to reduce carbon emissions in the hard-to-abate shipping sector, some industry proponents are looking to transition to ammonia as a fuel source for marine vessels. However there are many concerns associated with ammonia, namely that it is a highly toxic substance and virtually all of it is currently made from fossil fuels. The Risks of Ammonia as a Marine Fuel webinar brings together authors from the EM Magazine November Issue on Ammonia as a Marine Fuel to share their research on the risks of an ammonia transition in the shipping sector including new and existing sources of pollution from the ammonia supply chain, and its potential health, air quality, and climate impacts.
