HEFN catalyzes funder learning and collaboration on priority issues, to:

Expand investment in those most impacted by climate change
Align funders supporting organizing across communities impacted by the petrochemical economy
Expand giving for racial and gender equity and for grassroots organizing
Engage high net-worth donors in supporting work accelerating transitions away from toxic chemicals and materials
Build investment and action to reduce and eliminate hazardous lead exposures
Re-invent philanthropy and affinity groups by making philanthropy more participatory and equitable

HEFN strengthens philanthropic and field champions for environmental health and justice solutions, by:

Strengthening funder knowledge and relationships
Highlighting leadership from impacted communities in programming
Building members’ and staff skills and commitments for equity-advancing philanthropy
Developing partnerships across philanthropy-serving organizations to broaden the reach of this leadership development work

HEFN draws more foundations and investment into environmental health and justice, through:

Research, outreach, communications, and programming to engage funders
Implementing a model for collaborative engagement of high net-worth individuals
Collaborating with other philanthropy-serving organizations to further mainstream key issues in philanthropy
